Thai Haggin Named Athletic Coordinator and Jim Jeske Named Men's Basketball Coach

Bismarck State College athletic director Buster Gilliss is pleased to announce current employees, Thai Haggin and Jim Jeske, have been named athletic coordinator and men's basketball coach, respectively.

Coach Thai Haggin has been selected as the new athletic coordinator, women's basketball coach, and softball coach at BSC.

From Williston, ND, Coach Thai Haggin played basketball at Williston High School where she was a Miss Basketball Award finalist. Following high school, Thai continued her athletic and academic career at University of Mary. During her four years playing basketball at Mary, she was a two-time All-NDCAC selection and her teams were NDCAC Champions each of the four years, three times competing in the NAIA national tournament. She finished her outstanding playing career with an NAIA national championship in 2000. Coach Haggin was inducted into the University Mary Hall of Fame in 2005, along with her teammates and she was inducted again in 2010 as an individual athlete. She went on to earn her bachelor's degree in education and has been teaching physical education in Mandan since 2002. In her years at Mandan she has coached both the girls' and boys' basketball programs. For the last three years she has taken on the role as assistant women's basketball coach Bismarck State College.

Jim Jeske, current elementary principal at Pioneer Elementary School in Bismarck has accepted the coaching duties for the BSC Mystic men's basketball program.

Jeske graduated in 1985 from New England High School. In 1989 he earned his bachelor's degree in elementary education and in 2003 his master's in administration from the University of Mary.

Jim's coaching career includes three years at Sargent Central (1989-1991), and eight years in Carrington (1992-2000) where he led the Cardinals to a State Boys' Class B Championship in 1995. From 2001-2002, Jim served as an assistant men's basketball coach for the BSC Mystics. Jim Jeske served as head girls' basketball coach at Century High School for six seasons. In his second year as head coach, the Patriots finished the regular season as WDA Champions with a record of 22-3. The Patriots finished third in the 2003, 2004, 2006, and 2007 state tournaments. In 2005, the Patriots won the WDA tournament and finished as State Runner-up. He was awarded the 2003, 2005, and 2006 WDA Coach of the Year Award and State Coach of the Year in 2003 and 2005. Jim's record at Century was 116-31. He holds a career record of 269 wins and 121 losses.
