Coach Gilliss Signs 7 Men's Basketball Players on National Signing Day

Bismarck State College has announced the signing of seven men's basketball players to NJCAA National Letters of Intent. Signing to play next season for the Mystics include:  Brody Nieuwsma of Strasburg, Jesse Roberts of Minot, Michael Olson of Bismarck Century, Zac Martin and Jared Walter of Bismarck Shiloh Christian, Peyton Gabrielson of Flasher, and John Oyeogbe of Ikeja, Nigeria.

Nieuwsma, a 6' guard, averaged 21.7 points per game while leading the Clippers to the State B Tournament where they finished 7th place. Nieuwsma was named the Class B Powerade Senior Athlete of the Year and was named to the Class B All-State First Team. He was a four-time All-SCC Conference and District player, along with picking up District 6 and Region 3 Senior Athlete of the Year honors.

Roberts, a 6' 5" guard averaged 12.5 points per game while leading the Magicians to the State Class A Championship.

Olson, a 6'2" point guard, helped lead the Patriots to the State A Consolation Championship while scoring 8 points and dishing out 4.3 assists per game.

Martin, a 6'2" point guard, averaged 17.8 points per game, and Walter, a 6'9" post player, averaged 9.3 points and 8.7 rebounds per game while leading the Skyhawks to a 4th place finish at the State Class B Tournament this past season. Martin was named to the Class B All-State Second Team and was named the Region 5 Senior Athlete of the Year. Martin helped lead the Skyhawks to three State Class B Tournament appearances in his varsity career.

Gabrielson, averaged 19.7 points and 4.1 assists per game for the Bulldogs, as they claimed third place in the Region 5 tournament this past season. Gabrielson was a two-time all-district and all-region performer.

Oyeogbe, a 6'3" combo guard, averaged 20.8 points and 7.1 assists per game, while playing for the Nigerian Junior & Senior National Teams.
