Mystics sign 3 for track and cross-country

Bismarck State College track and cross-country coach Jamison Dietrich has announced the signing of three athletes to letters of intent to compete for the Mystics in the 2023-24 season. Signing with BSC are Samantha Meehl of Oakes and Brody Ferderer and Ivar Martell of Bismarck.

Meehl was fifth in the state in Class B discus last season. She has personal bests of 110-9 in the discus and 35-0.5 in the shot. Meehl will also throw the weight and hammer for BSC.

Ferderer is a Class A all-state runner and has been all-conference three times in cross-country. The Bismarck Century athlete was 10th in cross-country last season. He also will run distance events in track. Ferderer’s best times are 10:06 in the 3,200 meters and 16:19 in 5K cross-country. He also wrestles for the Patriots. 

Martell, from Legacy High School, will compete in cross-country and track. A two-time Class A all-conference runner in cross-country, he posted a 16:13 over 5K and just missed earning all-state honors. His 4x800 relay team took sixth at State Track. Martell has posted a 4:35 in the 1,600 meters and 2:02 in the 800.

The Mystics’ indoor track season resumes Jan. 14, 2023, at U-Mary’s Mike Thorson Open.
