Two more Mystics reach qualifying times for National Meet

The Bismarck State College Mystics took advantage of the opportunity to compete in the UMary Classic today, with standout performances propelling two team members to qualify for the NJCAA National Track and Field meet. Nathan Mathern and Talen Farland led the charge in the men's 200 meter race, clocking in at 21.14 and 21.18 seconds respectively, securing their spots at the national competition.

The Mystics showed depth and versatility across a range of events. In the men's 1500 meter race, Morgon Brindley clinched second place with a commendable time of 4:11.80, closely followed by teammate Ivar Martell in fourth place at 4:14.35. The hurdles saw Jack Koppelsleon earn a podium finish, placing third in the 400 meters with a time of 55.80 seconds. Garin Opdahl added to the team's success, dominating the men's javelin throw with a winning distance of 50.22 meters, contributing a significant 10 points to the team's tally.

The women's team also made their mark, with Alexia Anderson clinching victory in the long jump with a leap of 5.46 meters. Ava Stafford showed her mettle in the 1500 meter race, finishing fourth at 4:58.73, while Alison Hoff's discus throw of 39.62 meters earned her fifth place. The Mystics women excelled in the javelin, sweeping the top three spots — Brynn Hyttinen led with a throw of 35.48 meters, followed by Mya Sheldon and Julia Clements, with throws of 34.47 and 32.99 meters, respectively.
