Fresh Faces Look To Lead Cross-Country In Start Of 2023 Season

The Bismarck State College cross-country team enters year two of the program with a lot of fresh faces. Both teams are dominated by freshman, with only one sophomore on the men’s roster. Along with all the fresh faces on the roster, the program is led by new head coach April Lund.

Even before the start of their first race Lund has seen great things from her runners. “Truly every single person on the team has stepped up,” she said. “It has been so beautiful to see each athlete evolve both physically and mentally. It has been instrumental to meet each athlete where they are currently, so that can get where they want to be individually and as a team.”

Raine Skjod, the only sophomore on the men’s team, looks to build on his freshman season, that saw him finish 112th at the NJCAA national cross-country championships.

The Mystics season begins today in Moorhead, Minn at the Dragon Twilight. Sept 22 the Mystics will travel to St. Paul, Minn for the Roy Griak Invitational. Then on Sept 29, the Mystics will compete in Bismarck at the Marauders-Mystics Invite.
