Bismarck State College sophomore setter Cam Beasley is back in the spotlight after capping her final year with the Mystics volleyball team by being named NJCAA Division II Honorable Mention.

“I knew, and people who have played with or coached Cam knew, she was a great person and player, so this is very much earned,” BSC coach Kyle Kuether said.

Beasley, who played high school volleyball at Bismarck Legacy, led the team to a 33-5 record and a berth in the national volleyball tournament. Along the way, the Mystics won the Mon-Dak Conference title, the Region XIII title and the Northwest Plains Region title. With Beasley running the offense, BSC won 22 matches by 3-0 scores. Two of their five losses on the season were at the national tournament.

Beasley played all 38 matches for the Mystics. She was the quarterback whose job was to distribute the ball and she did a remarkable job, finishing with 1,266 assists on the season. In two seasons, she amassed 2,246 assists. In addition to guiding the offense this season, Beasley had 86 service aces, 350 digs and 40 kills. Beasley finished her BSC career with 80 kills, a .236 hitting percentage, 117 aces, 569 digs and 54 blocks.

“She’s worked incredibly hard on her skills and being a setter that her hitters needed,” Kuether said. “She’s a true team player in the sense of caring for her teammates, pushing herself and others and being a true leader on and off the court.”

Beasley also was named Mon-Dak Conference and Region XIII Most Valuable Player and was named to the all-conference and all-region teams.

The first and second teams and honorable mention consists of the 30 best players in NJCAA Division II, 12 on each of the first two teams and six honorable mentions.
