Bismarck State College sophomore guard/forward Sydney Gustavsson had an All-American sophomore season. For her efforts, she has been selected to the NJCAA Division I women’s All-America basketball team. Gustavsson becomes the 15th BSC woman to receive that honor since 1996.

The 5-foot-7 Mandan native averaged 20.3 points per game heading into the NJCAA Region XIII tournament and leading the Mon-Dak Conference in scoring. She averaged 7.4 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.5 steals. She shot 40 percent from the field and made 32 percent of her 3-point attempts. Gustavsson’s season highs were 34 points in an 88-87 loss to North Dakota State College of Science on Jan. 23 and 15 rebounds in a 66-53 win over Miles Community College on Feb. 20.

The last BSC played honored as All-American was Amber Stevahn in 2020. Gustavsson has received offers to continue her basketball career but has not yet selected a school.

The Mystics finished the season 16-12.
