Mystics With Early Season Tests

Despite only being the first weekend of the season, the Bismarck State College softball team would see where they stood against some of the best in the Mon-Dak conference.

The Mystics would start the day facing the defending NJCAA DIII champion and preseason number 1, North Dakota State College of Science. The Mystics would be able to slow the Wildcats offense, scattering five runs, but that would be enough as the Mystics wouldn’t be able to push any runs across, losing 0-5.

The second game of the day, this time against last year’s Mon-Dak conference champion Dawson Community College, the Mystics would find themselves down just one run going into the bottom of the fifth inning. The Buccaneers would get a big inning in the bottom of the fifth and taking the game 11-4.

Halle Mattern and Dominique Baker would account for the Mystics runs as each would cross the plate twice. Jordan Marcoux led the team on the day with two RBIs.

The Mystics have a record of 1-3 overall and will travel to Jamestown for another four game weekend on February 24 and 25.
