Jason Harris is returning to Bismarck State after spending 7 years in the private sector this will be his 5th season as a head women's basketball coach for the "Mystics". The Kenmare, ND native graduated from Bismarck State College in 1992 and Minot State University in 1996, with a Bachelor's Degree in Business and Physical Education.
Harris played basketball and baseball at NDSU-Bottineau and Bismarck State College. Harris earned All-Conference and All-Region XIII honors while leading the "Lumberjacks" and "Mystics" to Region XIII Championships and the 1991 National Basketball Tournament. Harris was the first baseman for the 1992 Mystic baseball team which earned a berth in the NJCAA Juco World Series. Harris went on to play basketball at Minot State University and was the captain of the 1994-95 team which advanced to the NAIA National Tournament. He was inducted to Dakota College at Bottineau's Hall of Fame in the Summer of 2023.
Harris began his coaching career with a two-year stint at North Shore High School before spending 5 years at Glenburn High School. Harris accepted the men's basketball and baseball coaching positions at MSU-Bottineau after the 2001 season. Harris coached the "Lumberjacks" for seven seasons compiling a 108-103 record. Harris came to Bismarck State in the fall of 2009. In his first year Harris led the Mystics to an 8th place finish at the NJCAA National Basketball Tournament in Danville, II. In his 5 seasons as the men's head coach Harris was the Region and District coach of the year 3 times along with guiding the Mystics to 3 National Tournament appearances.
