Bismarck State College’s softball team, the Mystics, kicked off the NJCAA region XIII tournament with a resounding victory, defeating Dakota County Technical College with a final score of 16-8.
Jada Walter led the charge for the Mystics, delivering for the offense by going 4-4 at the plate, including a home run that sent four runners home. Sophia Wood added to the spectacle with two home runs in her 2-5 performance, driving in three runs. Halle Mattern and Elin Williams also made significant contributions, each hitting a home run and driving in two runs, demonstrating the depth of the Mystics’ lineup.
Despite their initial victory, the Mystics faced a challenging opponent in their second game of the tournament, ultimately falling 7-5 to Miles Community College. Alexis Wesson stood out by hitting a home run and driving in three runs, with Elin Williams contributing the other two runs for the Mystics.
The Mystics have a record of 18-26-1 overall and 9-16 in conference.
The Mystics continue in the Region XIII tournament as face Williston State on Friday May 3.
